"Ms. Ding, don't talk about my sister like that. Everyone is different."
Yao Qingdai pretended to speak for Banxia, but the contempt in her eyes made people uncomfortable.
"Of course it's different. You were born to the Marquis's wife, and your mother is the eldest daughter of the Jin family. You're not like some people whose mother doesn't even know who her parents are."
Ding Shuang spoke deliberately with sarcasm, not only belittling Banxia, but even belittling Banxia's mother.
At this moment, many young men gathered around to watch the fun and happened to hear Ding Shuang's words.
Mei Zichu was standing behind the crowd. When he saw Jun Han trying to go over, he instantly pulled him behind him.
"It's a girl's business, why are you, a grown man, getting involved?"
Jun Han snorted coldly: "If you don't want to join in the fun, why are you here?"
"Of course I'm here to see that girl make fun of herself. Let me tell you, I'm not that magnanimous. Wait till you see how I deal with her."
Jun Han couldn't help laughing when he heard it: "Don't you think that time was embarrassing enough?"
Mei Zichu's face turned black when he was ridiculed by his good brother: "Just watch."
Jun Han smiled, he didn't think that a girl who would not panic even when facing a danger like a frightened horse would suffer any harm.
"What the hell did you say? Say it again if you dare." There was a group of young masters together, including Cangzhu. He jumped out and cursed at that time.
"Oh, I heard that the third young master of the Yao Family had his buttocks beaten to pieces, but he was able to jump again after just a few days. It's really a miracle!"
The one who made the sarcastic remarks was Ding Shuang's second brother, and Ding Yanbo's serious contempt was very obvious.
Cangzhu was so angry that he was about to hit someone, but was stopped by Banxia with a cold voice.
"Third brother, why are you wasting your time talking to such an uneducated person? Why lower our status?"
This sentence successfully drew all the attention to Banxia. Ding Shuang stomped her feet in anger: "You, you are the uneducated one. Do you believe that I will tear your stinky mouth today?"
Yao Banxia's face darkened instantly, and she stared at Ding Shuang and Yao Qingdai with eyes as cold as a knife.
Facing with such tense situation, Banxia seemed much more relax and at ease, and was not afraid at all.
“My mother and father never taught us to laugh at or scold our elders, so everyone can tell at a glance whether we are well-educated or not.”
After saying this, Banxia approached Ding Shuang with a cold look in her eyes: “First of all, my mother was my father’s first wife, the Madam of Marquis Yao appointed by my grandfather when he was still alive. Secondly, my mother was raised by my grandmother and grandfather. It is said that the grace of raising is greater than the grace of giving birth. Even if my mother was a child bride, she was still my grandparents’ child."
"Miss Ding, you slandered me first without any basis and then insulted my own mother. Is this what a well-educated person would say?”
People who came to laugh at Banxia’s joke were instantly convinced by her truth.
"What a good way to educate your children. Banxia, if you were a man, Uncle Mei would definitely accept you as his student."
When Master Mei's voice sounded, everyone turned around and looked.
The onlookers saw many high-ranking officials, apparently they have left the court early to celebrate the birthday of Old Master Qian. They passed by here and happened to hear Banxia's remarks.
Censor Ding's face turned pale at this moment, and it would not be an exaggeration to describe it as a color palette.
"Master Mei, Banxia is just making excuses because she feels sorry for her mother. Banxia can bear if people hurt her but not her parents." Banxia said.
Master Mei nodded with satisfaction: "Good child, you are a really good child. Your mother will be relieved if she knows that she has a daughter like you."
"Father, why did you leave court so early?" Mei Ziqing immediately stepped forward and took Master Mei's arm and acted coquettishly.
Imperial Tutor Mei patted Mei Ziqing's head lovingly and replied, "Today is your Grandfather Qian's birthday, so your uncle, the Emperor, let us to left the court early and asked us to come and congratulate him."
"So that's how it is. Grandpa Qian is so honored."
Imperial Tutor Mei smiled and said, "Your Grandfather Qian is a veteran of three dynasties, so of course he must be treated well."
Ding Shuang was so angry after being scolded by Banxia that she ran to Censor Ding to complain.
"Father, this country-bumpkin girl actually dared to scold me. She said that my brother and I were uneducated. She was scolding you and mother for not educating us well. Father, put her in jail."
Ding Shuang acted coquettishly and complained about her grievances, not caring about Censor Ding's increasingly dark face.
Master Mei looked at Censor Ding's face, which had turned extremely dark, and said with a smile, "Don't worry about the fights between children, and Old Ding, don't be too harsh on the children."
The smile on Censor Ding's face was extremely ugly, and he bowed to Master Mei.
He looked at Ding Shuang and scolded, "Hurry up and apologize to Fifth Young Miss."
Ding Shuang was immediately unhappy when she heard that her father actually asked her to apologize to this annoying girl.
"Father, why should I apologize to her? I shouldn't, she clearly called me uneducated." Ding Yanbo was enraged.
"You, you want to make me mad to death, right? You and your sister have disgraced me."
Censor Ding's fingers were shaking with anger. It was so embarrassing to do this in front of so many colleagues.
Only then did Old Master Qian came over, surrounded by people, his old eyes showing experience and shrewdness.
"You are Banxia, right? Was it you who said to Imperial Tutor Mei that one should not spoil and indulge children too much? I've heard him saying such words in court."
Yao Banxia was stunned and looked at Master Mei. She didn't expect that Master Mei would say what she said in the court.
Master Mei nodded and praised, "Your words have made Uncle Mei think deeply. Uncle Mei feels it is necessary to bring this up in the court and let all the officials listen. They should not be arrogant because of wealth and power, and let the next generation of children become even less capable."
Marquis Yao did not say a word from beginning to end, but his face was beaming with pride, and satisfaction was revealed in his eyes.
"Banxia just hopes that her brother can become a pillar of society like her father and uncles, so she has some insights."
This sentence not only praises the father but also praises the ministers, which can be said to be good and proper.
Master Qian was very satisfied and pleased with Banxia's calm, courteous and modest demeanor.
"As expected of someone praised by Imperial Tutor Mei, the calm aura about her makes people feel comfortable. No wonder the Emperor also praises her."
As soon as Old Master Qian said this, everyone was instantly surprised and envious.
The emperor actually praised this country-bumpkin girl. This girl is really lucky.
Yao Qingdai had always been very superior to all the other young ladies, but now Banxia was praised by so many ministers and even by the emperor, which made her feel very uncomfortable.
Qian Shaotang, who had been watching the show, finally stepped forward and said, "Grandfather, everyone, please move to the front hall to have tea and chat."
Lord Qian smiled heartily, "Okay, you guys continue to play, we old guys won't cause any trouble for you."
Lord Qian took everyone away. Lord Yao looked at Banxia worriedly, "You must follow your sister closely and don't cause any trouble."
Banxia leaned forward slightly, "Father, your daughter will remembered this. We will follow my sister closely."
Banxia emphasized the word "sister" at the end. Yao Qingdai was planning to do something bad and wanted to punish her. Wouldn't it be dangerous to follow her?

Note:
-Child Bride (童养媳 / tóngyângxí) : is a term used in ancient china. People in ancient china (And as far as I know, this is not only happen in China, but many places around the world, including the surrounding Asian countries, Africa, Middle-East, and so on) has a culture to buy and adopt young girls to raise and then let the girls marry their sons when they grew up.
If one ask, wouldn't it be the same if the sons marriying their adopted siblings? No!
From the beginning to the end, the goal has been very clear. The girls who were adopted would be raised and given lessons on how to be a good and proper wife in the future, and the person that they would marry will be the sons of the person who adoped them.
This culture originally happen because of poverty. People can't afford to prepare a good dowry for their sons, so, they decided to buy "cheap" young girls to raise and adop them. The situation are vary. Sometimes, it's the families of the young girls who can't afford to raise and feed them, so the parents decided to sell their daughters. Those daughters would sometimes end up in slavery, bought to be a servant in some household, or bought and adopted by a certain family to be a bride child.
Yao Banxia's mother in this story was in the same predicament. She was adoped by Banxia's grandparent and eventually marry the current Marquis Yao (Banxia's father) when she grew up.
.....
Sigh, from ancient times to the current era, it's really hard for women. Fortunately, the current era is already far better. Women can stand up for themselves and men can't exploit women wildly. Of course, there are still some men who are uneducated and thinking that they're some superior race and must make the women submit to them, and not just submit, they can also freely do anything to women, including beating and t*rturing them. Sometimes, they even used religion as their scapegoat, creating misunderstanding after misunderstanding to that particular religion, when in fact, all the faults lies on the BARBARIC AND UNEDUCATED MEN.
